Boat Holland Show…the place for motor yachts!

After 5 hours traveling by train last Wednesday, I have to admit that the day at Boot Holland in Leeuwarden (Friesland) was worth the trip.
I love everything that floats, and have enjoyed many happy hours on sailing boats, but have to admit that motor yachts still give me the biggest buzz. This show held in the water sports crazy northern province of Friesland in the Netherlands, has developed a reputation for exhibiting sturdy Dutch built steel motor cruisers over the last 24 years. The Dutch yards have not been idle during the recession years, and are still designing and building some very attractive boats. And, unlike some composite (GRP) boats which are now becoming a dismantling/disposal nightmare, these ‘Iron Maidens’ will still be going strong in 50 years time, and be easier to recycle when they reach end-of-life. Below photo shows the newly launched 11.8 or 13.8 metre Drentse Trawler, two chunky little ships, with oodles of space onboard!
