REFIT AND BOATSHOW SEASON KICKS OFF

The annual boat show season is well and truly underway in Southern Europe this week, with the Monaco Yacht Show and the Barcelona International Boat Show both taking place.
Monaco is still the jewel in the crown for most superyacht builders, brokers and refit/repair yards to set out their stall for the coming winter and next summer, but many ‘show walkers/networkers’ opted to visit the Cannes show a week earlier this year which is a sign of its growing status.
The Barcelona show made a somewhat strange decision to run the same week as MYS, although they do have an extra day on Sunday 29th September, when MYS will have finished. Some industry players are moving south over the weekend in order to cover both shows.
One of the highlights in Barcelona is likely to be the floodlit boat parade on Friday night (27th) which was a success last year, and will be sure to attract a lot of attention again. Being held outdoors in the newly configured Port Vell superyacht marina , right in the heart of Barcelona City is sure to start putting the Catalunya ‘Nautical Fira’ back on the annual boat show calendar as a worthy event to visit.
YachtMedia’s Peter Franklin is visiting the Barcelona show on 27/28/29th, and reporting on the proceedings for IPC Media’s IBI news.
Also hoping to see existing clients, colleagues and friends plus hopefully a few new ones of each!
